Welcome from Pastor Troy

Dear Families and Friends of RCS.,

It is an honor and a privilege for me to oversee the ministries of both a church and a school. I love nights like this where I can connect with many families and faces that I don’t get to see on a regular basis. Thank you in advance for supporting Renton Christian School through the generous donations that will come in tonight. We couldn’t do it without you.

Have a wonderful evening,

Pastor Troy Jones

Senior Pastor & President of RCS

New Life Church

Welcome from Erik Konsmo

Dear Families and Friends of RCS,

Hello Auction attendees! Our 11th annual RCS auction will be lots of fun! Our Auction Chair and her committee have done an outstanding job preparing this evening. I want to thank Kim Hopewell for donating so much time to this event. It is staggering how many people it takes to put on an event such as our auction. Thanks must go to the teachers for putting together their projects that many of you will bid on tonight. Your participation in the RCS auction is greatly appreci

From the Auction Chairs

We would like to welcome you to the RCS 11th Annual Auction Gala –

Hawaiian Style. Aloha!

When we began planning this year’s event, our top priority was to make sure that everyone had a great time, we provided everyone the opportunity to mingle with other RCS families and supporters, and we raised enough money to modernize the technology systems within the classrooms. In doing so, our goal is to provide our teachers with the tools and equipment they need to continue providing a top notch education for our children. With that in mind, we have worked with a stellar group of committee chairpersons and volunteers who gave their time, sweat, and talents so freely. This gala is the result of everyone pulling together as a team working towards a common goal.

RCS has been providing a quality, Christian-based education since 1979, and it was through the efforts of those early teachers, supporters, and

With the hard work, and long hours behind us, we are now looking to you

We hope you have a wonderful evening. Mahalo!

Marcus Trufant Bowling Classic

The 2007 RCS Bowling Team comprised of Erik Konsmo - Head of School, Chris Bodlovic - School Board Member, Tony Lambert - Coach & John Hopewell - PTF Member participated in the Marcus Trufant Bowling Classic October 2007. Seahawk Player Bobby Engram was the celebrity that played with the team for a night of fun. All proceeds went to the Marcus Trufant Family Foundation. This year, we are offering up a spot for bid to play on the 2008 RCS Bowling Team. This item will be a hot one! Be ready to bid on item #140 on page #62.

Almost LIVE

These items are in a class all by themselves, so they deserve to have a special table separate from the three Silent Auctions. Bid on these items like you would any item in the silent auction, but with more time to win the bid. This area is open from 5:00 - 7:30. Winning bidders will be able to collect their items at the end of the evening when checking out. The list of items are located on page 18,19.

Auction Website

This year we created an Auction Website where you can learn more about the auction, register to attend the auction, donate an item, sponsor a teacher and even preview the auction catalog which includes pictures of the Almost Live and Live auction items up for bid. What a great way to preview items prior to auction night so you can mark your pages for the items you wish to bid on. This is also a great way for patrons that cannot attend the auction to preview the items and have friends or family that are attending to bid on items for them.

Endowment Fund

The Endowment fund has been named to honor former teacher Betty Ratzsch. Mrs. Ratzsch was one of the original teachers when Renton Christian School began in 1979. Here tonight, we make a tribute to this wonderful teacher and to her family who have come out to support RCS.

Renton Christian School never wants to turn away children for financial

The Betty Ratzsch Endowment Fund is a worthy cause because of its powerful ability to change lives through the provision of a Christian education. With your assistance, we have been growing the principle in the Endowment Fund. Our target for the Endowment Fund is to reach the milestone of $100,000. After achieving this target, it will be able to meet some of the tuition assistance needs of the Renton Christian School community.

Through your generous, yearly contributions at our Auction, the Endowment Fund will soon reach the milestone we have set. So, tonight, we’re asking everyone to raise a bid card to help further build the Endowment

So, when the auctioneer announces the level at which you would like to help support the Betty Ratzsch Endowment Fund, please raise your bid card proudly. Thank You!

Like many items in the auction, the value of these photographs is based upon being "one-of-a-kind". Our photographer spent many hours getting wonderful shots of your children. The success of our Auction’s photograph section depends on these photographs remaining as "one-of-a-kind." As such, we ask that you do not reprint these photos, but rather cherish the fact that they are indeed special. More than one bidder can purchase these special photos at the guaranteed price. The Starting bid is $50.00 & will increase by $10.00 until it reaches the guaranteed price of $100.00.

Fifth Grade Mrs. Kincaid

Mrs. Nelson Class Project

The 5th grade students from Mrs. Kincaid’s & Mrs. Nelson’s classes joined together this year to create a uniquely Northwest framed artwork. Using high quality paper the students combined different colored papers with water making a wet paper mash. Then each student created a square and a Northwest themed shape on a mesh screen. The water was pressed out and each paper left to dry. Each shape in this amazing project is a one-of-a-kind creation. Once the papers were dried, U-Frame-It in the Renton Highlands helped assemble the pieces into this beautiful museum quality framed collage.

Mrs. Krogh's AM/PM students worked hard to create a museum quality art piece, sure to fit perfectly in any home!  Each student made circles on a 4 1/4" square, then selected just the perfect watercolors to add to their own personal touch.  Each square was then mounted onto a neutral mat in order to showcase the colors and style of each piece.  U-Frame-it of Renton Highlands framed the project with a stunning frame that truly highlights the artwork and brings it all together.  The finished work is an original creation by both our gifted K-Prep classes, ages 4 & 5.

1st Grade Project - Ms. Morlin

This unique toy chest was built by Jeff Katers - Jaedin Clark's grandfather.   The children chose Ephesians 5:1-2a "Therefore be followers of God as dear Children.  And walk in Love..." to place on the top of the chest and then marked the toy chest with their footprints.

To complete the chest, the toy box will contain various games such as Twister, Chutes & Ladders, Scene It, and Crayola Art Set, etc.   This beautiful Toy Box would be great for a child's room or playroom.

2nd Grade Project - Mrs. Moak

Contemporary work in texture, pattern and paint! Capturing the vitality and vision of the eight-year-old mind, the Second Grade students created miniature canvases in the style of artist Jackson Pollack. Pollack is known for brushless paintings of enormous size and euberant color.

Each student created an individual pattern of color and design using acrylic paints, sponges, popsicle sticks and lots of energy! These ‘mini-Pollacks’ have been arranged and layered to create a stunning collection of  vignettes. Each canvas becomes a mini contemporary treasure, bold, bright and saturated with color. U-Frame-It of the Renton Highlands mounted these vignettes on a black suede matte, and they reinforced the corners to protect this vibrant work of art. The piece is suitable for horizontal placement.

2nd Grade Project - Ms. Parmenter

Pictured coming soon!  The 16 X 20 framed art piece is a decopauged canvass with paper hearts hand written by the kids expressing 'what love means to them'.  Each student took their words and put them on various colored hearts, and then with paint brushes and decapauge, applied their words.
This unique mosaic table was created by the kids' single word discriptions.  They wrote words like 'merciful', 'kind', 'patient', and the like on flat river stones in their best handwrting.  These rocks were then placed as a mosaic on the espresso finish accent table.   These works of art would fit in any room to create a loving feeling.

2nd Grade Project - Mrs. Polich

“Mrs. Polich’s Berry Special Class”  is a hand painted  set of 3 mixing bowls with the students thumb prints in the shapes of berries. Each child chose the color of the berry and then thumb printed them along a “vine”.  Each berry was painted with individual kid faces and hair, making them look as much like the students as possible.  Cooking supplies were added to the bowls for display, accompanied by an apron that is hand painted in the same berry design as the bowls.

The second part is a recipe book that is custom made by our students and families then bound by Shutterfly.  Each 2nd grader has told us, in their own words, how to make their favorite recipe. They also colored a picture of that food.  Their artwork and a photo of each child, along with some group pictures of the kids cooking in chef hats and aprons, create this special family recipe book.  Each family has shared  their “family favorites” to make a huge collection (60 pages) of delicious recipes.  Most of these are from generations past (“Great Grandma’s Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies” etc.).

3rd Grade Project - Mrs.Fiedler

Picture coming soon!  The children enjoyed a field trip to Glassworks of Renton where they were able to see first hand how glass is blown into beautiful works of art.    This Wavy Flowing Art Glass Bowl boasts a series of beautiful vibrant spirals which unwind gracefully and create an oceanic flow from the center.  When viewed from above, it gives an optical illusion that seemingly flows in to a haven of fish in the sea.  No matter what the decor this detailed piece of art work is a wonderful addition to your home.

3rd Grade Project - Mrs. Thomas

Mrs. Thomas' third grade class has created a one of a kind, hand painted cookie jar and four dessert plates.  Each of the students took part in painting the four dessert plates, each representing one of the four seasons, and the cookie jar, each painting their own chocolate chip cookie.

To fill the cookie jar and dessert plates, the students composed a recipe book, "Our  Favorite Treats",  (made through Shutterfly.com) filled with their favorite treat recipes (cookies and bar-style) and photographs. The winner will also receive a special delivery of cookies four times throughout the next year (June, September, December, and March).  Yummy!

4th Grade Project - Ms. Gibson

"The many different names of Jesus" is a very unique 36X36 mosaic wall hanging created by Miss Gibson's 4th grade class.  The students carefully placed mosaic pieces which include sea shells, sea glass, stones and glass pebbles in grout.  They then placed their 1" tiles and completed it by topping the names with genuine scrabble letters.  This masterpiece is framed with a cherry frame, a $500.00 value, donated by U-Frame-It in Factoria.  This project, from start to finish, is truly a gift from God.

4th Grade Project - Mrs. Jones

Even King Neptune would be impressed with this 40 X 40 framed underwater montage created by Mrs. Jones’ “School of Fish”.   Each student decorated their fish with colors, beads, and sequins to match their “ideal” underwater creature.  U Frame It of Renton highlands mounted the fish and aquatic vegetation under double-paned glass to provide a 3-D seaside fantasy.  This piece would be a fabulous addition to any family room or beach cabin!

5th Grade Project - Mrs. Kincaid & Mrs. Nelson

The 5th grade students from Mrs. Kincaid's & Mrs. Nelson's classes joined together this year to create a uniquely Northwest framed artwork. A smaller framed collage is also available.

6th Grade Project - Ms. Bove' & Ms. Welling

This 2 X 3 framed glossy poster features 32 individually scanned watercolor paintings portraying the "ABC's of Renton". Each 6th grade student completed a water color painting corresponding with each of the letters of the alphabet. Each piece of artwork is titled above and has the artist's first name in the lower right hand corner.  In addition to the 26 letters of the alphabet, artwork was created for the title, a watercolor picture of the school, and the school year in which the art was created.  Special graphics were added and the project was mounted in a thick black frame protected with glass. This poster will be a fun addition to any home or office setting.

Jr. High Project - Mr. Darmanin, Mrs. Wood & Mrs. Youseff

This beautiful blown glass bowl has a royal blue background with bright colors throught out the inside.  The unique way the shards mixed together formed many looks.  If you look close (and with your imagination), you will be able to locate a Peacock, among other things.

Each Jr. High student was able to pick their own colored glass shard to be blown into the bowl.  The rim of the bowl has a wave to it that gives it a very contemporary look.   This art peice would adorn any table for entertaining or simply displayed for your home decor for everyone to admire.
